Rotary Emergency Van

The people of Solan have long needed a vehicle capable of transporting both deceased individuals and patients. Through the dedicated efforts of Rtn. Sushil Choudhary and Rtn. Puneet Sharma, Rotary Solan successfully acquired this essential vehicle during the Rotary year 2002-03. The van was formally handed over by the then-Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Sh. Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje. Since then, it has been operating successfully, providing vital services to the community at very reasonable prices, and sometimes even free of charge for those in need. The total running costs of the vehicle are supported by the generous donations of all Rotary members. The continued success of the Rotary Emergency Van is a testament to the spirit of service and community that defines our club.

Rotary Hearse Van (Free Service)

Before the introduction of the Rotary Hearse Van service, Solan residents faced significant challenges during the difficult time of transporting deceased loved ones. Families had to carry bodies on their shoulders to the crematorium, which added to their emotional and physical burden. Recognizing this need, the Rotary Club of Solan took a commendable initiative in 2011-12. Under the visionary leadership of President Arun Trehan and Secretary Ajay Aggarwal, the club successfully mobilized resources and acquired a hearse van. This purchase was made possible through the generous donations and support of all club members during that period. Since its introduction, the Rotary Hearse Van has been a vital service for the community. It has provided a dignified means of transportation for the deceased, alleviating the hardships previously faced by grieving families. The service is offered free of cost, serving the Municipal Corporation of Solan with dedication and compassion. The Rotary Hearse Van stands as a testament to the club's commitment to serving the community and addressing pressing needs. It reflects the spirit of Rotary and the power of collective effort in bringing about meaningful change.

Refrigerated Coffin Cask (Free Service)

Before Rotary Solan introduced the refrigerated coffin cask to the Solan public, there was no such facility available in the region. This innovative solution provides a vital service, allowing families to preserve the bodies of their loved ones for two to three days if they are away from home or abroad. The refrigerated coffin cask ensures that the deceased can be kept in a dignified and respectful manner, providing comfort and support to families during their time of need.

Oxygen Bank (Free Service)

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Rotary Solan initiated an oxygen bank with 12 cylinders, which has since grown to 23 cylinders and 5 concentrators. This essential service is provided free of charge to the public, helping to meet critical healthcare needs in the community.
